West Bend underpinning and building a nanny suite

Minora and Christoph had a small basement in their semi-detached house. They wanted to turn the basement into a suite to provide a living space for a live-in nanny. We consulted extensively with them to understand different options and weigh the pros and cons of different approaches.

In order to give them an 8.5-foot ceiling, we worked with a civil engineer to dig and underpin the basement foundation. We added new drains, a bathroom, a bedroom, lights, a kitchenette, and a new furnace and ductwork.

What the Client Said About the Project

We live in the High Park area in a 100-year old home. We wanted to finish the basement. In speaking with a number of contractors who were recommended by friends and colleagues, we settled on Jacob. He gave his professional opinion as we evolved the project from finishing it to underpinning the foundation and building a basement apartment with a separate entrance.
